CCR Wisconsin Foster Care
He doesn’t say “thank you” very often. Not that we expect it. Definitely not because he’s ungrateful, but because vulnerability is really hard.Last night, he told us goodnight and then headed up the stairs. A few minutes later, he came back into the family room and said, “Hey… thanks for not giving up on me today.”My husband and I looked at each other like, I'm not crying, you're crying!😭 Not going to lie, we didn’t have a great day. Some days are just like that with him. He's 16 and has been through hell. There was yelling. There were slammed doors. There were consequences. But there was also repair, consistency with my husband and me, and the big one: Staying.That’s the part these kids notice. Not perfect parenting. Not calm all the time.
