"In five years, we fostered 9 children between the ages of 4-11. Some were siblings. I was exhausted and we thought about closing our license. I met another foster mom at a foster parent training and we talked for a while. If I'm honest, I vented. She talked about her experiences with teens. My eyes were glazing over a bit. She wasn't suggesting we switch, just sharing is all. I thought about that woman for weeks and how her experience was so different than mine. Well, fast forward, we've been fostering a 15-year old for 3 months now. It hasn't been all roses but I can't believe how much we have enjoyed her. She is bright, funny, sincere, and kind. She has some things to work through but I have already seen changes happening. Needless to say, we won't be closing our license anytime soon."🥰* If you are a foster parent caring for teens, we would love to share your story.
