Each month 40-50 children are referred to us from counties across Wisconsin. Kids of all ages, from all backgrounds, need a safe, loving home. We wish we had enough homes for them all, but sadly we place just a tiny percentage of the kids presented to us. No matter what county you live in, there is a need for more foster parents.
A county agency makes a referral when a child or sibling group needs a loving home that can meet their needs. We receive referrals seven days a week from over 50 Wisconsin counties. We never know from day-to-day where a referral will come, so we must have foster parents in as many counties as possible to help as many children as we can. When a referral comes in, our job is to gather as much information about the child as possible, including location, history, and needs, to understand the type of home best for the child. We then carefully consider the pool of foster parents we have available for any potential matches. Our search is based on an in-depth understanding of our foster parents and what we know about the child's needs.
Some things we consider when matching a child or sibling group with a foster family are:
After a child or sibling group is placed with a family, 24/7 support services begin immediately. Our Clinical Case Managers are located throughout Wisconsin to offer 24/7 professional support. Each CCM has a region of responsibility and visits their assigned foster homes every week. In addition, CCMs visit each child's school, and therapy services are provided locally to benefit kids with childhood trauma. Need us after hours or on a weekend? We have a 24/7 call line too!
