Virtually all youth placed in C.C.R. Treatment Foster Care are court-ordered into care. Typically, County social workers contact the C.C.R. Referral Coordinator to provide information regarding the youth being referred for placement. In addition, the Referral Coordinator will request information and/or documentation including, but not limited to, a court report/social history, Information for Foster Parents, and any mental health or other relevant evaluations. After receiving necessary written materials and verbal information, the Referral Coordinator will then begin to search for potential appropriate placement options.
Matching is based upon numerous factors including, but not limited to, the severity of difficulty of the youth's presenting issues, the individual needs of the youth, location recommendations (proximity to biological family or essential community resources or providers, rural vs. urban setting, etc.) and personal characteristics of the youth and prospective foster families. Referral information is distributed to prospective families who then review the information to assess compatibility. The family decides whether or not to pursue the youth for placement and ultimately has the final decision to accept or decline the youth. The Referral Coordinator coordinates this entire process and acts as the liason between the prospective families and the referring worker. The referral process is carried out in a timely manner, yet is highly sensitive to the need for collection of all pertinent information and careful consideration of the compatibility of the youth and prospective family.
